The ritual of the baci involves tying of white cotton strings around a person’s wrist to preserve good luck, and has become a Lao national custom. Tying the strings represent tying an individual’s 32 spirits to their body. This restores harmony and brings good luck and prosperity.

By supporting A Child’s Notebook, you help rural villages provide education to their children, giving them hope their descendents will have better lives

Thank you for your interest in supporting our important work. We deliver the majority of every donation directly to our educational projects. Financial gifts are tax deductible.

A Child’s Notebook’s invests in work that makes the most impact for every dollar given. Communities submit proposals to improve their children’s education and accept responsibility for planning, labor, management, and maintenance.

We maximize each dollar through the use of volunteers that provide administrative and fundraising work in the United States. If you would like to volunteer or serve as a member of our board, please volunteer for education.

Our annual fundraising gala supports key project needs and operations. Please consider attending our annual Baci Gathering fundraiser, a fun evening where you can experience Lao food and culture while supporting our international education efforts.

How far does your investment go?

Here are some of the ways your financial support can change lives:

Construct a School

Supply materials to build a school where children can change their futures. Villagers provide design and labor.

Create a Dormitory

Supply materials to build a dormitory to house secondary school students, providing safety away from home.

Build a Bathroom

A two-room structure provides privacy for restroom use and includes sanitary hand washing stations.

Drill a Well

A well will supply the school's new restrooms and may provide the first fresh water in a village.

For $1.80 we can buy a textbook. The difference will help purchase other basic supplies.

School Uniform

For just $10, you can help a student who could never otherwise afford a uniform.

Pay tuition for a secondary school student. This could be the difference that would allow a girl to finish her education.

Teacher Support

Help a village keep teachers and spend more time in the classroom with payments for after school instruction and some expenses.

Consider other ways to support our cause

If you have a strong commitment to providing education opportunities for poor children in Southeast Asia, here are some specific ways you can help.

We are always seeking dedicated volunteers, whether experienced or eager to learn. You can help our team with:

  • Grant writing
  • Special events support
  • Administrative tasks
  • Marketing
  • Positions on our Board

Please contact us to describe your interest and background for these volunteer roles.

Corporate Matching

If you are an employee at a corporation that offers corporate matching for philanthropic gifts, or an executive at an organization that is looking for a designated philanthropic organization in line with your values, we’d love to talk with you.

Please contact us with your inquiry and provide a short background.

Stocks and Trusts

Gifts from your portfolio can offer immediate tax benefits and also help you manage your estate. We are happy to work with your financial or legal counsel to help you designate assets to support our work.
