The ritual of the baci involves tying of white cotton strings around a person’s wrist to preserve good luck, and has become a Lao national custom. Tying the strings represent tying an individual’s 32 spirits to their body. This restores harmony and brings good luck and prosperity.
By supporting A Child’s Notebook, you help rural villages provide education to their children, giving them hope their descendents will have better lives
Thank you for your interest in supporting our important work. We deliver the majority of every donation directly to our educational projects. Financial gifts are tax deductible.
A Child’s Notebook’s invests in work that makes the most impact for every dollar given. Communities submit proposals to improve their children’s education and accept responsibility for planning, labor, management, and maintenance.
We maximize each dollar through the use of volunteers that provide administrative and fundraising work in the United States. If you would like to volunteer or serve as a member of our board, please volunteer for education.
Our annual fundraising gala supports key project needs and operations. Please consider attending our annual Baci Gathering fundraiser, a fun evening where you can experience Lao food and culture while supporting our international education efforts.
